High street pharmacy retailer Boots has issued a safety alert to parents who have bought a popular baby item over serious safety concerns. The Bugaboo Giraffe high chair with baby set has officially sent out a warning, with the brand flagging up "a falling hazard" that's been spotted.
Bugaboo has released an urgent safety message about the product. The retail giant said: "If the screws connecting the high chair's legs weren't fully tightened by the customer during set up, the screws may become loose over time."
They added the warning: "In that case, the legs of the high chair can detach from the frame when a baby is seated in the baby set and is pushing against the footrest. This presents a falling hazard."

In response to the issue, Bugaboo announced they are rolling out a no-cost Repair Kit to help families. This lack of stability, Bugaboo says, could present a "falling hazard".

The returns can be processed through Boots, and the kit includes a new set of screws, an Allen key and a manual providing step-by-step instructions meant to help the chair's stability.
But the company say if buyers are planning to keep using the Bugaboo Giraffe high chair before they have had a chance to switch out the screws with the Repair Set, then they need to keep the footrest at its lowest level. To drop the footrest down, just give the two buttons a press – one on each side of the footrest – and slide it down to the bottom.
The product warning affects all high chairs which were available for purchase up until April 8 this year. You can order your free repair kit here by using the serial number found on a sticker under the high chair's seat.
Bugaboo provided comment: "A safety issue has come to our attention on the Bugaboo Giraffe - that could affect stability if the screws weren’t fully tightened by consumers during setup. In response, we’re proactively offering a free Repair Kit to all customers — with improved components designed to prevent this from occurring.
"Bugaboo is proactively contacting all Giraffe high chair customers to emphasise the importance of correct assembly and to offer a free Repair Kit. This kit includes updated screws, an improved tool, and clear instructions to improve secure installation of all components. This initiative underscores Bugaboo's unwavering commitment to the safety and reliability of every Bugaboo product. No other Bugaboo products are affected by this update."

This comes after Boots were forced to pull several air fryer models off the shelves following safety concerns. The high street chemist called back T17023 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17061BLK 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17067 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer and T17087 2Ltr Compact Air Fryer due to a fire hazard linked to overheating issues.
In an urgent warning, Boots stated: "There is a risk of overheating, which could present a fire hazard."
They advised customers to halt usage immediately and promised a replacement for those affected. "If you own one of the affected models, please stop using it immediately. We will provide a replacement model," the retailer assured.
