I have always wanted to be a reporter, but because I was small, the camera did not really like me, and my voice didn’t sound as great as well.

So I chose another type of reporting, and ventured into court reporter jobs.

With the training I got from court reporting schools, I was able to learn to transcribe as fast as I can, get key points, and not only was I able to document accurately, most lawyers get me to make sure I properly transcribe everything that is happening in court. I get to meet several lawyers, and make myself knowledgeable in different kinds of laws and cases as well.

It was not an easy job and task in the beginning, but technology and the internet has made this venture not only fun and fruitful, it has opened several better opportunities for me. Several online schools for court reporting are now available, and you don’t really have to personally attend school to learn the trade, so to speak.

It is a different kind of reporting, yes, it is. But then again, the reporting that I get to learn and enhance is a lot better than just standing in front of the camera and reading other people’s reports and news that they have made. I use my ears, understand what I transcribe and give my thoughts to lawyers or whoever gets my services. A very lucrative career and one that is in demand as well. Regardless of where I go, court reporting is asked for, lawyers need this kind of service, and you keep honing your skill as you keep doing this type of reporting.
